Instead, the developers decided to spice things up with Kronoa-style PS1 2D-esque platforming and a ludicrously over-designed combat system.
Not entirely unremarkable Browse games Game Portals. Wild Arms 4. Install Game. Besides these special attacks, the characters can also cut loose with powers that become available when they take enough damage, giving you more combat options than you'll find in nearly all other RPGs.
Yet despite all the combat possibilities. Wild Arms remains simple to play it's even ideal for RPG newbies, since the early part of the adventure is laden with hints. Wild Arms' graphics are much better than screen shots let on. Each character, including the residents of towns, is superbly animated and detailed.
And the polygonal enemies in the battle scenes look phenomenal-especially the Bosses. Once in a while I can't help but want to get into a solid RPG. Wild Arms was one of those titles. I really enjoyed playing this one. The story was interesting how the main characters come together and the graphics were great The switch between 2-D and 3-D was weird at times-almost like two different games-but nothing I couldn't get over. With all of the hustle and bustle surrounding Final Fantasy VII, it's nice to sit back and play an RPG now-that's really good by the way-and not worry about what's to come.
It's an all-around solid buy for RPG fans. Well, this winner sure makes up for Beyond the Beyond. It has all the traditional RPG elements that make for a classic: a simple interface, great music, cool-looking spells, a deep and involving story line and so on and so forth.
I love the sheer number of offensive attacks that you'll eventually get The little things make the game too. For example, the shadows in combat change when a bright spell is cast about a room. I would have liked to of had more than three characters and a story that wasn't so linear but then again, every RPG out there is pretty linear. Fans of the genre, pick this up. With the stream of games hitting an all-time low, it's refreshing to see a solid title like Wild Arms squeak through the EJ firewall.
The main cast includes Lilka, a spunky year-old sorceress-in-training; Ashley, a young musketeer from the Town of Meria; and Brad Evans, a rogue soldier formerly of the Liberation Army. In the first game, ARMs referred to the ancient weapons that characters possessed.
In the sequel, these weapons are still called ARMs, but it also has a new meaning. The Agile Remote Mission Squad is the elite special team that is comprised of our three heroes, who are deployed throughout Filgaia to do freelance hero work sound familiar? The core battle system remains virtually unchanged--combat is still turn-based, and all menus are the same. An important new addition is the ability to equip your character with a "Medium," which will increase certain stats and enable new abilities very similar to FFVIIPs Guardian Forces.
The traditional magic points are replaced by "Force Points," which are accumulated by attacking as well as being attacked. It was neat to play through the brief adventure that each character has which ultimately leads them to the Mexican standoff Yes I realize that a similar setup occurs in the other Wild Arms games, but this one is done just a little bit better. Once all four mini adventures are completed, the game enters into a more traditional RPG game with dungeons, desolate wastelands and other points of interest in the land of Filgaia.
Interested players should also note that the game has turn-based combat system that will feel very familiar to fans of the series. I really started to dig how the gritty western feel started to creep into my gameplay, characters twirling six guns, leveling off a lever action shotgun at some nasty little critter or the vivid Indian garb one of the characters wears.
The whole feel of the game makes everything just a little fresher in a genre that needs games to really have an edge if they plan on standing out. After the invading army attacks Ciel and brings the sphere crashing down, Jude, Yulie and Arnaud join forces to find the army's true intention behind Yulie's abduction. The Brionac is an elite fighting force of the Congressional Knights , and was initially formed during the war against the Global Union. They were reformed after the war by a new captain, Lambda Zellweger , and are now known as "Lambda's Elite". The group is composed of members with super-human abilities, and each member of the Brionac is equivalent to an entire battalion.
On the field map, Jude is the only character that is playable to navigate the world of Filgaia , even with other members of his party present. Jude is able to jump and double-jump, crouch, slide, and stomp around the different locations. Also, Jude's Accelerator ability, allows him to manipulate time and collect Gella , and the game will occasionally rely on Accelerator during timed events to advance the story.
